FRP lobby panels

1000 Museum Miami is a luxury residential building designed by Zaha Hadid Architects located in Miami, Florida. For this project we were appointed for the engineering, fabrication and installation of the GFRP (glass fiber reinforced polymer) panels for the lobby and drive court.

These panels are one of the distinctive features of the building because of their geometry. A smooth double curvature that transitions from walls to ceilings displays a vibrant pattern creating a sensory experience for the user as it walks though the space. Every part of the project was ingenuously calculated and fabricated to perfectly integrate the design curvatures with the light, MEP features, the mullions distribution, even the air conditioning injection diffusors were considered for the fabrication of the GFRP panels.

Kinetica implemented a data-driven design approach coordinating and integrating information for different sources to develop a robust 3D model with every design detail. From 3D scanning to a BIM model, we studied every aspect that may interfere with the GFRP panels and/or the structure before its fabrication. Following a Lego-like assembly method, we carefully planned the shipping sequence to ease the installation. Every part of the project was fabricated in Mexico and shipped to Miami to be installed by our team.
