Camino Real is a hotel project that involved various design customized elements to enhance its architecture’s aesthetics and functionality. Our scope included some of these features including the fabrication of the logo, louvers, glazing system, and wine cellar.
We fabricated a large version of Camino Real’s logo using polymeric concrete and a steel substructure. Using CNC machinery, we fabricated the model from which we extracted the fiberglass mold. The final logo, casted as a single piece, weighs approximately 1.1 tons and is now an iconic element for the project.
The tailored louver system for the swimming pool area was designed to distribute sunlight indirectly throughout the day. The louvers were constructed with sliding panels, allowing for easy and seamless alignment during installation. Fabricated from natural aluminum and finished with electrostatic paint, they offer durability and resistance against UV rays.
We also took on the design and fabrication of a custom-made large window system that seamlessly integrated with the architectural intent of the architects. The system accommodated different window sizes and featured precise cutting and bending of aluminum pieces, including water dripping details. We incorporated polyurethane foam for insulation and to rigidize the profiles structure without adding weight to it, as well as a discrete union system for a seamless appearance. The glazing system was transported from the shop to the site fully assembled, with the glass already placed in the frames. They were strategically installed using a machine designed by Kinetica to achieve an efficient and faster installation from the interior of the hotel rooms.
Moreover, we undertook the challenge of creating a wine cellar for the Bice Bistro restaurant in Monterrey located inside the hotel. The cellar, designed to hold 1500 bottles, combined glass, stainless steel, and mahogany details to achieve a sophisticated and elegant space. The internal structure, resembling stainless steel, was made of automotive paint finish steel. Comprising 150 glass panels, the cellar provides a visually appealing showcase for the wine collection, with three levels accessible through a spiral structure.
Throughout the Camino Real project, our focus was on delivering high-quality designs and meticulous craftsmanship to enhance the overall aesthetic appeal and functionality of the hotel.
