copper façade

We were commissioned to design and install a copper entrance for a private residence. We fabricated a specific façade detail creating texture through copper sheets wrapping around a 32 feet cylindrical shape.

Working with metallic sheets presents challenges in concealing the borders and achieving a continuous curved wall. As a result, we took a different approach by deliberately exposing the borders to create a textured effect that enhances the beauty of the copper. Drawing inspiration from traditional Mexican design, we meticulously interlaced horizontal and vertical copper bands, using a hidden fastening system, to simulate the pattern of a "petate" carpet usually woven with palm fibers.

In addition to the copper entrance, we also fabricated a matching door that follows the same curvature. The door's substructure was constructed using PTR steel profiles, covered with triplay on both sides, and insulated with polyurethane fiber at the center. Copper sheet layers were applied to both faces. We also designed and crafted a custom-made metallic door handle with a unique maneuvering mechanism exclusive to this project.
